The port of Le Havre and SOGET are innovating with the blockchain for hazardous materials!

July 10, 2019

As part of the ambitious programme set by Trafis Lab, the first public-private research laboratory dedicated to facilitating international trade, security, digital technology and artificial intelligence launched in 2017 in Le Havre, HAROPA - Port du Havre and SOGET are involved in a project to secure the management of dangerous goods using blockchain technology.
This information storage and sharing technology allows for a fully secure exchange of data between supply chain actors and thus aims to improve the fluidity and transparency of the supply chain. After a study carried out with ISEL, Higher Institute of Logistic Studies and the University of Le Havre, a first prototype is being designed by HAROPA Port du Havre and SOGET, whose respective information systems TIMAD, S-WinG and S)ONE are already fully interoperable.
This prototype will contribute to the port's cyber security by ultimately assisting the Harbour Master's Office in its mission to monitor dangerous goods in accordance with the maritime regulations in force.
The benefits of applying blockchain to the logistics of very sensitive & specific goods are thus demonstrated today, providing added value for our customers.
